Hello, Netlify!
My name is Anton. I'm excited to be writing this letter to apply for Senior Backend Engineer position at Netlify.
Why I would enjoy working in this role
I find pride in building tools that help people create. At Netlify, as a software engineer I would be able to do exactly that. This will allow me to have a bigger impact on creators productivity by removing roadblocks on their way from idea to production.
The team at Netlify deserves a special mention as it's one of the main reasons why I would enjoy working in this role. I looked at people at Netlify. And, I will be excited to learn from their experience and be inspired by their approaches to solving problems.
From my side, I will be happy to bring my 10 years of experience into the mix of already strong Netlify team. Here are a few of my skills and expertise:
- Deep knowledge of Ruby, Go and JavaScript
- Experience scaling databases and API web services
- Knowledge of setting up CI/CD with K8s and bare metal
- Understanding the ins and outs of mail system gained by developing my own mail server
Why I would like to work at Netlify
There is a sentence in your culture handbook on github that really resonated with me:
"we approach every line of code, support ticket, meet-up talk, sales call, and piece of documentation with a high bar for quality."
Every day at work I strive to produce quality, because this is what makes me happy about the day when I come back home. I would love to work at the company where the notion that "quality is important, because quality is the foundation of effective companies" is embedded in day-to-day activities.
I see that Netlify is really active doing meet-ups, blogging and presentations. I'm working on getting better at public speaking by putting myself in front of people. In March this year, I'm giving a talk at Amsterdam.rb about Redis Streams. I'm looking forward to study more and prepare for my next talk about Jamstack and cool things one can build with serverless functions on Netlify.
